Understanding Accelerated Learning Techniques
Gone are the days when you sit at your desk and study something for hours on end in order to commit it to memory. Now, more and more schools are using accelerated learning techniques in order to teach the children at the school the lessons they need to learn. And these accelerated learning techniques are not only used in schools, but also by people who are trying to enhance their memory. But before you can implement accelerated learning techniques, however, you need to understand what they are and how they work.
What Are Accelerated Learning Techniques?
Accelerated learning techniques are a system of speeding and enhancing the learning process in the brain. It works simply by utilizing how your brain naturally inputs data in order to make it easier for you to learn and remember the things that you’re being taught. In order for these to work, you first need to understand how your brain works.
Everyone’s brain works, in theory, the same way. However, everyone is a unique individual and while it may be easy for one person to learn by reading, another person may find that they can’t learn unless they are being read to. This is due to the individuality in your brain.
How Your Brain Works
In order to find out how your brain learns the best, try a little exercise. First, try to memorize a simple poem the old fashioned way: by sitting down with no distractions and by reading it with your eyes only. Then, after a few minutes, flip the paper over and try to recite the poem. See how well you did. Next, get a new poem (roughly the same length) and read it out loud to yourself for the same amount of time that you read the other poem with your eyes. Once again, try to recite it back and check to see how well you did. Then, have someone read the poem to you and recite it back. There are many variations on this type of a test, including changing the way the poem is being recited to you (i.e., talking or being sung), and also changing the atmosphere you’re in. For instance, some people learn well when they are indoors, while others find that it is easiest to learn when they are out of doors.
In a Classroom
The problem with some accelerated learning techniques, however, is that a classroom is not always the easiest place to implement them. This is simply due to the fact that there are dozens of personalities in any one classroom. This is why it is vital that you learn what type of learning style works best for you at home so that you, or your child, can work on the information that is being given at school in the type of environment that is more apt to make the seed of knowledge be planted and fertilized properly.
Accelerated learning techniques can be utilized by virtually anyone.
